We are posting this in advance of that election, to let you know about some candidates we believe are especially worthy of support, including our own SC member Prasannan who received official nomination and others nominated by petition. (We are partnering in this effort with the Palestine Historians Group and Historians for Palestine, with whom we worked on the petition to AHA’s Council urging reconsideration of its veto of our Resolution Against Scholasticide in Gaza.)
For each of the following, we hyperlink their candidate’s statement. Those nominated by petition are marked with an asterisk. Although they are running as individuals, all of them support greater democracy in the AHA’s functioning.
*Annelise Orleck is running for AHA President-Elect.
*Sherene Seikaly is a candidate for Vice-President of the Professional Division.
HPAD Co-Chair *Van Gosse is a nominee for Councilor of the Research Division.
*Karen Miller is running for Councilor for the Teaching Division.
HPAD Steering Committee member Prasannan Parthasarathi is a candidate for one of the slots on the Nominations Committee, as is former Steering Committee member *Alexander Aviña.
Please vote and make your voice heard in the 2025 AHA Election that will run from June 1st-July 15th.
